With the app Viehworld, the founders Florian Aspalter and Wolfgang Schiessl are putting the livestock trade in Austria on a new footing. With just a few clicks on a smartphone, tablet or laptop, farmers and livestock traders can bid for or sell cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses and other animal species. The animals are presented with all data, photos and videos. With their innovation, business planner Aspalter and veterinarian Schiessl complement the tradition of taking animals to auction halls. The benefit: The farmers have more time on the farm, the animals are spared a lot of stress and the livestock traders can organize their transports more efficiently and save CO2 in the process.
The free app Viehworld also convinced the jury of the Generali SME EnterPRIZE, in which the best sustainability strategies of SME entrepreneurs are brought before the curtain. The app was awarded second place in the category Sustainability through Digitalization.
Digitization of the livestock trade on the pulse of time
For the award winners Aspalter and Schiessl, the award also confirms that they have taken the pulse of the times with the digitization of the livestock trade: "We are strongly oriented to the needs of our target group. That's why we developed the basic concept in 2019 together with a team of farmers and have been continuously incorporating feedback and requests since the launch a year ago." Security for the 11,000 users in Austria is guaranteed by the AMA login.
