The start-up viehworld wants to move the livestock trade in Austria away from stables and agricultural fairs to cell phones. For the sake of the animals.
Following the boom in pet apps, farm animals are now also conquering the Internet. Veterinarian Wolfgang Schiessl and management consultant Florian Aspalter have designed viehworld, a digital platform for agricultural online auctions, a cross between the dating app Tinder and eBay. The seller uploads current photos and videos directly from the barn into the product description, and interested parties can browse at will, contact the seller or bid right away.
The main assets for all involved are less time spent by farmers, less transport stress for the animals and no risk from transmissible diseases, such as at normal agricultural fairs. The only requirement for participation is a farmer membership number of the state agricultural subsidy agency Agrarmarkt Austria.
