Digitisation does not stop at agriculture. An app now wants to revolutionise the regional livestock trade.

Salzburg. Two people from the Eastern Quarter are behind the new app "viehworld": the veterinarian Wolfgang Schiessl and the banker and farmer Florian Aspalter. The idea came from the veterinarian. With the app for the livestock trade, Wolfgang Schiessl wants to minimise stress for the animals and also the risk of spreading diseases at livestock markets. "With the help of a geographical filter, we ensure that the animals are sold in the immediate vicinity. This guarantees a lower risk of diseases being introduced into one's own barn. In addition, every saved transport kilometre has a positive effect on the stress level of the animals," says Schiessl.

The app has been online since the beginning of September and by the beginning of November had been downloaded by about 4,500 users, 2,000 of whom registered with their AMA ID. At that time, 450 registered users came from Salzburg. All relevant data for the private sale of a livestock animal are displayed on the app; in addition, photos and videos can be uploaded for each animal.
